sephora beauty insider event 20% off

Hello hello! I’m super excited for today’s blog post because I love sales – especially when they are on products that are RARELY discounted!

As many of you may have heard, Sephora is having a 20% off sale! They only do this about twice a year, so whenever it happens, I make sure to stock up on the items I love!

The sale ends Aug 27 (tomorrow) so act fast – I promise you it’s worth it!! The way I think about it is… I’m probably going to buy these items anyway, so instead of waiting a month and buying it full price, I might as way pick them up now and save some money!!

First and foremost – make sure to use code: SUMMERSAVE in order to get your discount! The two different discounts are as follows:

Rouge Status gets 20% off

VIB status gets 15% off

If you don’t know what these mean, basically it’s just part of Sephora’s rewards program. You can sign up for the rewards and then every time you make a purchase you get points, and your points determine your status!

Now that you know how it works, I want to share my absolute holy grail products with y’all! These are products that I use almost every single day! They are SO good. For reference, I have super dry skin and these products work so well for me – but if you’re oily check out Casey Holmes on for great choices for oily skin types. Closet Favorites – My current go-to clothing items that I couldn’t live without!

August 24, 2019

Happy Weekend y’all! Today I wanted to share my current go-to favorites in my closet. I feel like no matter how much clothing you own, there will always be a few pieces that jump out a little bit more than all the others! I love sharing new looks and getting new items, but I thought it could be super helpful to share my staples + current favorites that I’ve been wearing on repeat! And if y’all like it, I could maybe make it into a monthly blogpost!

Okay first up are these leggings! I am seriously so blown away by how good and how affordable these are. I love the material of these – they are the perfect combination of stretchy workout material and cotton! It’s hard to describe, but it just makes them SUPER comfortable!! Also, these are the PERFECT length for me – I’m 5’2 and have to roll most pairs of leggings, so to find these was such a win! But most importantly, they are only $21! WHAT! I can’t even believe it! They come in every color you could possibly imagine, so I already have 2 pairs (black and light blue)… and I’ve got my eye on a 3rd pair in pink lol!

Next is this long-sleeve top! I’ve shared this multiple times over on my Instagram because I cannot get over how soft it is!! It is THE. SOFTEST. SHIRT. ON-THE-PLANET! Not even kidding. Andddd… so cute right?! Honestly I don’t even feel like I have to explain this one because it just speaks for itself. It’s on sale for only $22.46 until tomorrow 8/25 and I recommend sizing down one (I’m wearing XS for reference).

I’ve also been wearing this tee on repeat lately! For some reason I’m really into the “fancier” t-shirts lately. They’re just so easy to wear – so comfortable while running errands, going to class, etc. – but you don’t have to compromise on cuteness either. Basically a win-win situation! Anyway, this tee is v-neck but not too deep (don’t want to be showing anything off if you know what I mean!). It’s also not fitted at the waist which I think is great! It’s loose and flowy which is exactly what I look for in my t-shirts. It’s soft too, and the camo is adorable! This tee is also on sale until tomorrow for only $14.97 so don’t wait to snag it!! Wearing size S for reference.

These are my most loved items in my closet right now! I’m a sucker for anything soft + comfortable so it doesn’t surprise me that I love these 3 pieces so much! When I get some new favorites I’ll be sure to let y’all know 🙂

Enjoy your weekend!

Back to School Shopping List – College Essentials

August 20, 2019

College Room Decor - Desk and Standing Shelves
White Desk for College Apartment and String of Photos
White IKEA Standing Shelves with Home Decor

The summer is flying by, and since we are already at the end of August, I thought I’d give advice on what to pack when you’re going back to school – or if you’re headed to college for the first time!

First and foremost, my number 1 recommendation is to buy a planner. If you prepare for classes in no other way – at least do this one step! One of the hardest parts of being in college is time management. With the newfound freedom and opportunity there’s so much to do and it ALWAYS feels like there isn’t enough time to get it all done. Balancing classes, friends, and events can be tricky at first, but a planner has saved my life! Whether it’s a physical calendar or just the one on your laptop, a planner is an absolute must! At the beginning of the semester, after I get my syllabi, I take time to write down all of the assignments for all of my classes in my planner. I look at my planner on a daily basis and it really helps to keep track of everything you need to get done! I’m girly and type A so I like to color code based on the class – but even if you just write down when your tests are, you’re already a step in the right direction! Below are my fav planners – they are a bit more expensive than a normal planner, but they have space for up to 17 months and are just so cute! And if it’s cute, you’ll end up using it more I promise!

Next, you should invest in a good backpack! You may already have one which is perfect, but if you don’t, I highly recommend this one. Make sure whichever one you get has a laptop sleeve and a comfortable fit! Nothing is worse than added back pain when you’re already drowning in schoolwork and stress. A quality backpack can be used over all 4 of your college years and can also double as a travel bag! I use mine almost every time I travel because it’s easy to carry your laptop and anything else you might need so it’s definitely worth the investment!

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3689996″]

If you do not have an already furnished living situation, I recommend getting a desk! You’ll need a space that’s quiet enough to get your work done even when you’re friends are out and about having fun. It’s difficult enough to get the motivation to study for hours so you do not need any added distractions! A desk is the perfect way to dedicate an area to getting work done, and it makes it easy to zone out the chaos that is college. I’ve linked a few desks I like below, but I also recommend IKEA for cheap furniture options!

When it comes to back to school shopping for clothes, make sure you stock up on comfy essentials like sweatshirts, leggings, sneakers, and tees. There’s no doubt that you’ll have a stressful week with 3 or 4 tests, and the last thing you want to think about is how uncomfortable you feel in your clothes. Comfort doesn’t have to be boring though – I’ve linked my favorite comfy items below!

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3690021″]

Hope this simple round up of all my college essentials with help you transition into the new school year! And even if you are not a student, you can still implement these items + tips into your life (especially good for entrepreneurs or if you work from home!).

Thanks for reading!

Inside the Mind of an Introvert

July 24, 2019

One thing I’ve always known about myself is that I’m an introvert. A full blown, shy individual, that’s awkward in social situations sometimes. Lately I’ve been thinking about why I’ve found it so interesting yet so incredibly challenging to be an introvert.

Introverts learn and respond very differently than extroverted people. As an introvert, I process information in my head instead of out loud. It takes time for me to take a concept in, understand it, and then respond in words with my thoughts. Often times, people want immediate responses and take silence to mean you don’t understand or didn’t like what they had to say. But in reality, I’m usually just taking it all in and trying to gather my own thoughts. A few semesters ago, I actually took a class in college that was only about 15 students. My professor’s teaching technique was more of a ask-and-respond style rather than a lecture. He quickly realized that no one in our class ever raised their hand to answer, and he was constantly trying to pull the answers from us. Although no one answered the questions, he could tell that we were fully engaged and listening! After we took a Myers Briggs personality test, he realized that the whole class was introverted. We were attentive, but we were processing the information in our heads instead of out our mouths.

As an introvert, and a planner, my mind works a mile a minute. By the time you’ve thought about what you’ll eat for breakfast, I’ve planned out my day – when I’ll blog, when to study, where we’ll go for dinner – and to be honest most of the time I have at least a rough skeleton mapped out as to what my entire week will look like. My mind works so hard and so fast that sometimes I find myself not listening to what people are saying – no I’m not zoning out – I’m just thinking 5 steps ahead of the last conversation we had planning out what different scenarios would look like or how it would unfold. I know. It sounds insane. But it happens in a split second. I don’t do it on purpose… that’s just how my mind works.

Being an introvert sometimes makes me socially awkward. I like to think of myself as a fairly personable individual, but there are definitely times when I feel myself standing awkwardly in a corner afraid to talk to normal human beings. Especially new people. It’s like I have to prepare what I am going to say because once I meet you my mind will go blank – and if you read the paragraph above you know that is a rare occassion. Once I meet you I’m totally fine – even loud and opinionated at times… but the initial walk up always gives me anxiety.

And don’t even start to mention a public speaking event. These are a no go. An AVOID-AT-ALL-COSTS type of scenario. And if I can’t avoid it… you know I think about it for days. The most sleepless nights I’ve had, have been over future presentations and interviews. I know this is one of my weaknesses and I’m learning how to just embrace it!

Even when I’m recording Instagram stories or videos for my feed, I feel my introverted side rising to the surface. Maybe I’ll look away from the screen or forget my train of thought. My new strategy is to record the video and not rewatch it – LOL I find that I alwaysss end up deleting it if I watch the video over again.

Being an introvert definitely has it’s challenges. You’re pushed out of you comfort zone everyday, and sometimes you are very misunderstood. No I’m not quiet, I’m not avoiding your question, and I definitely don’t hate being around people. I’m just plainly introverted. I think differently and talk differently and worry about different things than you.

This part of my personality has led me to love fashion so much. Because when I’m having trouble explaining that I’m really a very easygoing, friendly, and approachable person, at least my outfit can express the words I can’t.
