For those of you who don’t know, I love to read! I read about a book a week, so needless to say I do A LOT of reading. I’m constantly looking for good books. My favorites are psychological thrillers and murder mysteries. I love reading other bloggers’ posts on what books they’re currently reading, so I thought it was about time to put together a list myself. These are my top 10 books that I’ve read since this summer. Of course, these are in addition to Gone Girl and The Girl On the Train – I didn’t include those because if you haven’t read them yet, you must be living under a rock! (just kidding). For the record, these are all murder mysterious, so you have been warned!
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
This was probably my favorite book out of all of these! I loved the twists. This was one I couldn’t put down!
Lo Blacklock is a travel magazine journalist. She is offered the once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel on a small luxury cruise with a few other guests. However, her dream vacation turns upside down when she believes her cabin neighbor goes overboard. When the staff is told, everyone is accounted for. Despite her protests, the yacht continues on, and the deeper Lo digs, the more turns she encounters.
Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
This was another great one – definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat!
Jack and Grace are the perfect couple – or so it seems. Their relationship seems envious from the outside, but what is really going on behind closed doors? Maybe their relationship is a little too perfect.
The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison
A quick disclaimer – this one is super twisted! I really liked it, but definitely not one for people that are freaked out by the description (I wouldn’t blame you!).
The garden is a beautiful place full of flowers and scenery – the only thing you wouldn’t expect to be there are all of the kidnapped girls. Their kidnapper, the Gardner, tattoos intricate butterfly wings on their backs and keeps them locked in the garden. The story is based around a girl named Maya, who survived the garden but might be hiding more secrets than it seems.
The Good Girl by Mary Kubica
I liked this one, and I feel like it gets a lot of recognition by people! Seems to be a crowd favorite.
The main character, Mia Dennett, is abducted by a man she went home with from a bar. He hides her in a secluded cabin, and the book goes on to tell the story.
Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson
This was a good one! This was one of the first ones I read, and it got me back into reading murder mysteries. I feel like it has a unique backstory with the main character having amnesia, so I like the way it’s written!
After an accident, the main character doesn’t have the ability to remember any of her past or form new memories. Every day she wakes up not knowing what is going on, and though she can remember the day, she’ll go to sleep only to forget it tomorrow. Through the book she works to figure out who she is and who she can trust.
Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
This is another good one with some crazy twists.
Claire and Lydia’s sister, Julia, died when they were just girls. Twenty years later, Claire’s husband is murdered. Though the two don’t seem connected on the surface, the sisters are left to find the truth and discover the hidden secrets.
The Obsession by Nora Roberts
I really liked this one! You know it’s a good book when the story stays with you when you aren’t reading it. I’ve read a ton of books recently, so sometimes it’s hard to keep them straight – however, I remember this one well!
When Naomi was young, she discovered her father was keeping a girl trapped inside the cellar in the woods. She turned him into the police, and has since tried to move on with her life. Though she settles in a small town that she believes can finally make her feel at home, she remembers the past is never far away.
In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
This is a good one! It’s the same author that writes “The Woman in Cabin 10,” so I was really interested in reading it.
Leonora reluctantly goes on a weekend getaway with some friends and acquaintances; however, she soon comes to wish that she never attended the trip at all.
The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson
This is an interesting one with some good twists!
Ted and Lily meet each other at the airport traveling from London to Boston. When Ted jokes about killing his cheating wife, Lily offers to help him. The two become closer as they plan her murder, but there are secrets that Lily is keeping that no one would expect.
All The Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
I liked this one! I’ve seen that some people were freaked out by it, but I enjoyed it. Definitely some good twists!
Nicolette’s best friend, Corinne, disappeared when they were 18 years old. When Nic returns to her home town 10 years later, another local girl goes missing. She’s left to untangle her best friends case and find the truth in the mysteries of these two girls.
Please share any of your favorite books! I’d love to check them out 🙂

Oooh, it's interesting that you're into thrillers/mystery type books because those are the only kinds I can stand to read! Also I'm glad you explained what the books were about without any spoilers because that's hard to find on different bloggers book recommendations. Great post :))
