Aaron and I met at college here in Wilmington, and he grew up on Topsail Island not too far away. So, he has family here and we still have a bunch of friends around. We came up this weekend for one of his family friend’s weddings (yay – I absolutely love weddings!). We’ve been traveling quite a bit lately, so I wanted to share a post about my travel tips!

#1 – Bring a cardigan. Airports and airplanes are notoriously cold, so I always make sure to bring a cardigan with me on flights. Even if I’m flying somewhere warm, I make sure to have a long sleeve sweater with me – (honestly especially when I’m traveling somewhere warm because I might be wearing a tank and shorts as my travel outfit!). Your cardigan can also double as a pillow on the plane if you decide not to wear it.

#2 – Bring a neck pillow. These are vital for long flights! There is nothing worse than the kink in your neck from sleeping the wrong way on a plane. They have some pretty comfortable ones, and you’ll be able to relax much quicker during those long trips.

#3 – Bring some form of entertainment. Whether you enjoy listening to music, reading books, or watching movies, make sure you have something to entertain yourself with. It will make the flight go by so much faster! Not all planes have built in tvs on them, so a quick movie hack is to bring your laptop! Once you’re in the air, you can power it up and slip in a DVD to watch. The next few hours will fly by!

#4 – If you’re a reader, invest in a kindle. I never go on a trip without mine! They are so much more convenient to travel with than actual books. They’re light as a feather and fit so easily in any carry on. Plus, if you finish your book, you have a whole library to choose from at your fingertips. Not to mention – the books on there are cheaper than paperbacks!

#5. Pack a phone charger in your carry-on. When you’re traveling, the last thing you want to happen is to have your phone die. You might not know where you’re going, how to get there, or who to meet, so you do not want to lose your means of communication. There are outlets throughout the airport (and even sometimes on the planes now), so carry your charger with you to make sure you have a full battery.

#6 – Bring snacks. Although you can’t bring drinks through security, you can most definitely bring snacks! You never know when your flight will get delayed a few hours, and you might end up missing a meal. Pack some cookies or crackers in your carry on in case you get hungry.

#7 – Bring a decent sized carry on. I like to bring my LV Neverfull as my carry on for sizing comparison. This is so that I can fit everything without a problem! I usually put all of the things I mentioned above inside of it – a cardigan, my kindle, snacks, chargers, earphones, my wallet, etc. If there is enough room, I’ll even stick my neck pillow in too! Having a larger carry on allows you to bring anything you need.
